Why give reasons ovarian cysts?

CAUSES

Every month growing follicles in the ovaries. They make hormones and release an egg during ovulation. In some cases, the follicles develop into cysts.

There are two main types:

Functional cyst : occurs when the follicle does not mature properly and the egg is not released. These cysts disappear on their own within 1-3 menstrual cycles.

Follicular cyst : occurs after release an egg.

These cysts are released in a few weeks alone.

They are a type of functional cyst.

Most are functional cysts. Only occur during the reproductive age. Also, you can develop other less common benign cysts ovarian tissue . For example, if you have endometriosis, you may form cysts uterine tissue from an ovary.

Polycystic ovary disease is also associated with cysts. This happens when they grow many small cysts (more than 10) in the ovaries.

In a small percentage of cases, cysts are caused by cancer. Another condition associated with cysts is ectopic pregnancy. Your doctor will do a pregnancy test to rule.

SYMPTOMS

Most ovarian cysts do not cause symptoms. The two most common symptoms are:

pelvic Pain

menstrual bleeding

The pain is usually caused by:

Direct pressure from the cysts on the ovaries and surrounding structures.

This causes chronic pelvic discomfort or severe pain bleeding from a cyst in the ovary and surrounding area.

This generates a sharp and intense pain because the blood irritates the lining of the abdomen. The pain can be recurring and regular.

You may notice more pain:

Just before or after the period

During sex

Other symptoms:

Urinary discomfort or pressure associated with bladder irritation

illness

diarrhea

In rare cases, a cyst can twist. You can interrupt their own blood supply and cause:

Severe abdominal pain
Vomiting
fever
Agitation
Zeal

Call your doctor immediately if you have these symptoms.

TREATMENT

Treatment depends on:

age
menstrual status
Size and type of cyst
Symptoms

The main types of treatment are:

Wait and see

The doctor waits a few months to see if the cyst goes away.

Medications

Oral Contraceptives if you have a functional cyst, your doctor may prescribe oral contraceptives. Contraceptives can prevent the onset of other cysts during the period of “wait and see “. If you frequently present cysts, oral contraceptives decrease the likelihood of generating new ones.

Drugs for pain relief

If the cyst is causing significant discomfort, your doctor may prescribe pain medication.

Laparoscopic Surgery

They may recommend a pelvic laparoscopy to remove the cyst if it :

Grows larger or reaches a size greater than two inches
Has some solid material or other
Causes persistent or worsening symptoms
Lasts for extra than two or three menstrual cycles
Interrupts blood run
If the cyst is not cancerous , usually can be removed . However, in some cases, be required to remove the ovary completely. If the cyst is cancerous, you can have both ovaries and the uterus. This requires an open surgical procedure.

If you are diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, follow your doctor's instructions.
