What causes cervical cancer?, Main causes of cervical cancer.

The causes which can cause cancer in the cervix are not yet fully known. But there are certain risk factors that appear to play an important role:
 
Infection with human papilloma virus, or else Human Papilloma Virus or HPV. Has shown that 99% of cervical cancers are found at high risk HPV types

There are about 150 different types of HPV HPV. See: HPV

Sexual activity: Women who have had intense sexual activity at a young age and with multiple sex partners have more risk of developing this cancer. Initiation of sexual activity before the age of 17 years increases the risk for the disease.
